The Granteed (グランティード) is a fictional robot in the Super Robot Wars series. It has appeared as a playable unit in Super Robot Wars J and is Touya's default mecha in Super Robot Wars Original Generation The Moon Dwellers. Later unit is upgraded to Granteed Dracodeus (グランティード・ドラコデウス)

Appearance

The Granteed sports a bulky, armored build, and is adorned with fin-like or wing-like protrusions. On its head is mounted a golden ring, making it resemble a pharaoh. It is primarily blue and white, with red and green highlights.

The Granteed is piloted by either Touya Shiun or Calvina Coulange, the two original pilots in the game. They are assisted by Festenia Muse, Katia Grignarl and Melua Melna Meia, though only one of them can accompany the pilot in battle. The main pilot handles attacking and combat, while the subpilot handles the rest of the functions.

Technical and Historical

In an attempt to infiltrate human society and begin planting the seeds for their eventual domination, the Fury sent several of their knights undercover with the intention of working alongside the humans and learn about their technology. Two of these knights were Al-Van Ranks and his subordinate, Jua-Mu Dalby. During that time, they began working on Ashalley Kreutzer's project of mobile weapon development. The data they collected would be later used in creating their prototype mobile weapons. Later, Al-Van led the attack to destroy the facility, with the intention of annihilating all traces of the project for the Fury. However, one staff member managed to survive: Calvina Coulange.

Franz Zeppelin was a human who was involved in the Granteed's construction (as well as the Bellzelute, Coustwell, and Vorlent, depending on which machine the player chooses to use in the beginning of the game). He was a good friend of Touya Shun's father. At some point, he and El-Selda Shun, Touya's father, decided to betray the Fury and provide some hope to the Earth by helping Festenia, Katia and Melua escape from their confinement. Knowing his life wouldn't last long, he programmed a disk with his artificial intelligence, so the pilot of whichever machine was chosen, could ask about his purpose.

The three subpilots managed to escape. However due to their poor piloting abilities, they could not escape far enough without being caught. In the end, they crashed near the protagonist's whereabouts (in Touya's route, they would crash land in his school during one of Dr. Hell's attacks; in Calvina's route, they would appear while the Nadesico is engaged in combat). During the commotion, the Granteed makes a reaction to the protagonists. Touya or Calvina are forced by the circumstances to pilot the mech, and turn out to be particularly adept at it. Later, they become the lone pilots allowed to utilize the machine.

The Granteed would serve as the protagonists' personal mech for first half of the game. Its tremendous armor and firepower allowed it to mow through enemy units with ease. However, during the fight to protect Orb, it would become heavily damaged in a battle with Al-Van's Raftclans. The Granteed would later be upgraded into the Granteed Dracodeus, resembling a dragon-man in form.

The Granteed is designed for all-range combat; although its most powerful move is executed at melee range, it can trade fire with agile sniper units and artillery. It usually comes out on top in these exchanges, because of its better armor against snipers and better agility compared to artillery. It is flight capable, both in space and in an atmosphere. Using its hardened claws and armor, it can cut down incoming missiles and parry melee attacks. Of the three starting original mecha, it boasts the strongest armor, but is the slowest, both in movement and dodging. Among the three, it has the most damaging finishing move.

There are two pieces of special equipment present in the machine. The first is the Larseilam Canceller, a device which negates the Fury's ability to stop time, their favorite tactic when engaging enemies and leaving no evidence of survivors. The second is a Cytron Control system, which allows a subpilot to interface with the machine and enhance its performance in various ways, depending on the subpilot. While the Granteed doesn't possess the Orgone Cloud ability, the Granteed Dracodeus does. The Orgone Cloud acts as a barrier that can negate damage at times, allowing the machine to do a short time-space jump, effectively evading any attack thrown at it, no matter how accurate the attack is, and ignore terrain and enemy unit formations when moving.

OG Timeline

During the events of Super Robot Wars Original Generation The Moon Dwellers, Granteed was created by the Fury instead of Ashuari Kreuzel Industries in the image of their creator god, Fureim and one of the Kadoam Hakam whose remains became the red jewel embedded inside Granteed.

As the Throne Machine it can only be activated by either someone with the blood of the royal family or someone with the blood of the captain of the royal guard.

In ancient times it participated in the battle against the Ruina as well as established the seal over Crossgate(Volda's Gate in the Fury language). The Fury Emperor(Shana-Mia's father) later decided to build Sealing Palace(Jig-Geiz Vosdes in the Fury language)/Fabula Fores(Joshua's father Felio Radcliffe uses this name) to seal off physical access to the Crossgate. During the events of The Moon Dwellers Granteed would be stolen by E-Selda Shiun to use against Gu-Landon's attempted coup d'etat. Unlike its Judgement counterpart it would start with the Orgone Cloud barrier but would lack the Larseilam Canceller, it would also possess Larseilam but that was damaged during E-Selda's escape.

After being injured by Karo-Ran while fighting Al-Van Ranks, E-Selda would escape to Earth with Katia Grignarl and Melua Melna Meia in tow to give the machine to his son Touya Shiun.

Touya would use Granteed to assist the Steel Dragons against the Fury, Gadisword and Dark Brain's Army until it was recaptured by the Fury. During captivity Granteed would combine with the support unit Basileus to become Granteed Dracodeus allowing Touya and the Fury's royal princess Shana-Mia Eterna Fura to escape.

Combined with the support unit Basileus, Granteed Dracodeus would gain a considerable boost in power and a 3rd pilot seat for Shana-Mia to use allowing Granteed Dracodeus to achieve greater heights of power with its Orgone Extractors.

Touya and Shana-Mia would later rejoin the Steel Dragons and continue assist them in fighting Gadisword and the Fury, during the final assault on the Gau-La Furia, Gu-Landon would attempt to self destruct his Zui Gadin near the main reactor of Gau-La Furia to take out the Steel Dragons Squad and all the Fury sleeping in the ship but would be thwarted after Touya used Infinity Calibur to destroy it.

After the defeat of XN-L, Touya would channel the will of the Steel Dragons into the Infinity Calibur to destroy the Fabula Fores Crossgate once and for all.

Specifications

Granteed

Model Number: Unknown

Height: 30.0 meters(J) / 58.8 meters(OG)

Weight: 45 tons(J) / 160.2 tons(OG)

Weapon Systems:

  • Orgone Blaster
The Granteed bends forward, lining up the ring on its head with the target and lets loose a blast of Orgone energy.
  • Finger Crusher
The Granteed rushes in and uses its clawed fingers to rend the enemy, before thrusting its hand through it and knocking it away. This attack can also be used as combo attack against a group of enemies lined in a row.
  • Orgone Slave
The Granteed releases a more powerful stream of Orgone particles out of its chest at the enemy with a greater range than the Orgone Blaster.
  • Orgonite Buster
An attack that debuts in Super Robot War OG The Moon Dwellers, First Granteed deploys the Crash Saucer from the sides of its feet which is the thrown and strikes the target, Granteed then grapples the target as the Saucer reattaches itself and adds to Granteed's thrust, Granteed then pushes the target across the ground and lifts it up, Granteed then forms a straight drill made of Orgone Crystal from its chest which spins at an incredible speed while Granteed forces the enemy against it boring a hole into the target, granteed then lets go and the target explodes.
  • Tempest Lancer
The Granteed extracts ambient Orgone energy from its surroundings. It releases a part of its chest, revealing the hilt of a handheld weapon. A crystallized Orgone blade forms from the hilt, resembling a lance. The Granteed takes its weapon and charges, followed by a kind of 'cloak' of pure Orgone energy, and impales its enemy. With a successful hit, it lets go of the hilt, allowing the solidified Orgone energy to explode.

Granteed Dracodeus

Model Number: Unknown

Height: 30.0 meters(J) / 64.5 meters(OG)

Weight: 45 tons(J) / 316.7 tons(OG)

Weapon Systems:

  • Orgone Draco Blaster
This is the upgraded form of the Orgone Blaster, where a crown has been added to the ring on its head.
  • Finger Draco Buster
The Granteed Dracodeus performs several forward thrusts, using its clawed fingers, before finishing its opponent off with an uppercut, letting the Orgone energy seep through and amplify the final blow. This upgraded form of the simple Finger Buster also has a combo version.
  • Orgone Draco Slave
The Granteed Dracodeus flies into the air, warming up by unleashing Orgone particles at its target. It then finishes it off by unleashing an even larger amount of Orgone particles on it.
  • Infinity Calibur
There are three different attacks of the Infinity Calibur, depending on the preferred subpilot for most of the game:
    • If Katia is the preferred subpilot, the four dragon heads blast the enemy with pure Orgone energy, encasing it in a solid, crystal prison. Using its crown as a hilt, solidified Orgone energy forms from the hilt into an oversized sword, similar to the Colossal Blade. The Granteed Dracodeus then delivers a final vertical strike, slicing the enemy in half.
    • If Festenia is the preferred subpilot, the Granteed Dracodeus performs an attack that sends the enemy flying up. Using its crown as a hilt, solidified Orgone energy forms from the hilt into an oversized sword, similar to the Colossal Blade. The Granteed Dracodeus then thrusts the sword into the free-falling enemy, shattering the blade as the whole length of the sword makes contact with the enemy.
    • If Melua is the preferred subpilot, the added parts of the Granteed Dracodeus fly off, releasing Orgone energy as they do. Eventually, they reconfigure into a large dragon-headed battering ram, overflowing with Orgone energy. The Granteed Dracodeus hops on it, and with their combined momentum, they slam into the enemy. A crystallized prison forms, and with a mighty roar, the reassembled Granteed Dracodeus shatters the prison, and the enemy along with it.
